Father Paul Magnano currently serves as Vicar for Clergy in the Archdiocese of Seattle. Prior to that assignment, he was our Pastor. Father Magnano was appointed by Archbishop Alexander J. Brunett to serve as pastor of St. Therese Church from July 1, 1998 to April 20, 2003. Before that, Father Magnano was pastor of six parishes in the Skagit Valley of Western Washington State for 10 years.
Father Magnano was born and raised in Seattle on Queen Anne Hill, educated at St. Anne's Grade School, Seattle Prep High School and St. Thomas Seminary College. He studied for the priesthood in Rome (1964-68) at the Gregorian Pontifical University and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Seattle on December 21, 1967. He completed his Ph.D. in Social Psychology at the University of Washington in 1988.
Father Magnano's mother and father were married at St. Therese Church in June, 1941. Both his father and mother were parishioners at St. Therese Church as children. His father attended St. Therese Grade School as a fifth grader when it was opened in 1926, and graduated from the eighth grade. His father's family then moved to Queen Anne Hill, where they were members of St. Anne Church. After marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Magnano lived in the Queen Anne neighborhood and were parents to eight children. Paul is the oldest. He was born on May 5, 1942.
